WHEN DO YOU NEED ME?

Distribution Day is typically the last Saturday of each month unless it falls on a holiday weekend. In that case, Distribution Day will be the last Saturday of the month.

Order deadlines are 2 Sundays before Distribution Day.

The A.F.M. leadership team typically meets the first Tuesday evening following the order deadline to discuss and plan

Distribution Day logistics as needed.

Distribution Day can start before 6:00am for some volunteers but not until 8:30 – 9:00 am for others.

Some volunteer only need to stay until all the groceries are sorted into individual orders, ready to be picked up while others stay longer to distribute the orders.

Things begin to shut down at noon, the deadline for picking up orders, and any unclaimed food is distributed to local families in need.

WHAT IS ANGEL FOOD MINISTRIES (A.F.M.)?

A.F.M. is a nondenominational ministry based in Georgia that provides quality groceries one day per month at greatly reduced prices. A.F.M. is available through thousands of churches in 32 states and is reaching more people every month.

DO I NEED TO QUALIFY FOR A.F.M.?

No. A.F.M. is available to anyone and everyone regardless of need. You don’t have to provide any personal information beyond your name and telephone number on the order form.

WHO BENEFITS FROM A.F.M.?

Everyone benefits from A.F.M. regardless of need, rich or poor.

A.F.M. provides a way for families to stretch their food budget further. A.F.M. also provides relief to people on a fixed income who may be struggling to allocate resources between rent, medicine, and food at the end of each month. Those that are not struggling can add the money they didn’t spend on groceries to the offering plate to help bless others at no additional cost. People of all incomes watch for lower gasoline prices and go out of their way to save a few cents per gallon. A.F.M. allows you to save more than that with less effort.

IS THE CHURCH USING THIS AS A FUNDRAISER?

No. All A.F.M. funds collected go back into the ministry to bless families in need. We operate it as a breakeven ministry at best.

WHY IS YOUR CHURCH DOING THIS?

Jesus commanded us to love one another and said that our love for one another will prove to the world that we are his disciples (John 13:3435).

His parable from Matthew 25:3146 explains that what we do for the least of our brothers, we do for Him. We want to express our love for Jesus by helping our neighbors who He cares deeply about. We also have great fun while working together and have made many new friends.

People and The Church are the only things that last and we value our relationships with Jesus Christ, each other, and our community.

CAN YOU EXPLAIN MORE ABOUT THE FINANCES?

For each 50 basic boxes ordered, A.F.M. will ship one additional box at no charge. This extra box is intended to compensate for any products lost of damaged in shipping. In the absence of any such shortages or damages, this extra box is given away to a local family in need. For each basic box ordered, A.F.M. provides a $1.00 rebate back to First Church of God. A.F.M. also rebates an additional $.25 to First Church of God for each Specialty Box. These rebates are used to purchase additional boxes the next month with the specific intent of giving them to a local family in need.

THIS SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. WHAT IS THE CATCH?

Yes, many have said this sounds too good to be true, but like God’s grace, IT IS TRUE! Give it a try. You’ll be blessing you own home and the home of another local family at the same time. There is no catch except that you will have to pay for your order at least two weeks in advance and then pick up your groceries at First Church of God within a two hour time period on one certain day each month.

YOU SAY WE HAVE TO PICK UP OUR GROCERY ORDER BETWEEN 10:00 AM & 12:00 NOON.

WHY CAN’T IT BE SOONER OR LATER?

The groceries are trucked overnight from Georgia to A distribution site in Ohio. The food

must be unloaded and inventoried before being released to representatives of First Church of God and other area churches. The food is then driven to First Church of God in bulk cases where volunteers must break it down into individual orders. It is difficult to have your order ready to pick up any earlier than 10:00 am. Some volunteers have put in over 6 hours of service by 12:00 noon. We would like to release them to be with their families early in the afternoon. Additionally, much of the food is shipped frozen but is not kept in a freezer from the time it is offloaded from the delivery truck. The sooner you pick up your food and put it in a freezer, the better.

WHAT IF I AM OUT OF TOWN OR IF I CAN’T PICK UP MY ORDER BY 12:00 NOON?

First Church of God does not have freezer space to store unclaimed food. Any order not claimed by 12:00 noon will be given away to a local family in need.

WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE IN ANGEL FOOD?

o A.F.M. reduces your monthly grocery bill, leaving more money for other things or helping others .

o Because of the free box for every 50 orders plus the $1 rebate per basic box, the more orders that pass through A.F.M., the more we can help others in our community

o If the volume of our orders reaches a certain level, A.F.M. will dispatch a delivery truck directly to First Church of God making it unnecessary to drive to a distribution center.

o A.F.M. offers a unique opportunity to help the community while helping yourself
